Session Zero: 2-6pm Sunday, ???—This pre-campaign session will be devoted to getting to know each other, clarifying what to expect during the campaign, completing character creation, and reviewing safety tools. If we have time, we’ll actually begin.
Campaign Premise
The last paladin of the Golden Order is dead. His House, not just defeated but also stripped of its imperial charter. And the Great Gold Wyrm has dreamed its last subversive dream. Triumph belongs to the corrupt Emperor and his Bronze Templars and to the Crusader’s most zealous believer, Baron Abulyrd.
But you are heroes. Dreamers. Freedom fighters. Saboteurs. Water protectors. Zealots. Revolutionaries. And you’re just getting started wrecking the Emperor’s shit.
7 Truths of this Campaign
- Mines in the Frost Range are the last source of dragongems, necessary for incubating dragons’ eggs and, thus, the linchpin of the alliance between metallic dragons and the Emperor. But the dispossessed Flamekeeper orcs of the Frost Range fiercely guard the secrets of dragongems and pursue a generation’s-long project to bring the koru behemoths back and, with them, spring.
- There are no male priests to the gods of light, only the ubiquitous female priestesses of the Priestess Mother Siona Arrbea Mohmus Chotkoba. They live to serve every noble house so well that no one notices as they finesse history toward their own ends.
- Only the Archmage’s wizards can safely slip her barges, called murkships, into and through the Murk. Her monopoly on (relatively) fast long-range travel and transport earns her wealth, power, and resentment. It also depends on dragongems.
- All Sanga are gnomes, not all gnomes are Sanga. Sanga require regular contact with dragongems to maintain their incredible abilities for weighing possibilities, recalling lore, and seeing to the heart of things. All major noble houses keep a Sanga in their employ.
- The black market is THE market, and the Prince of Shadows controls it. Goods, titles, secrets...but by far, dragongems bring the highest prices. And the Prince is always due a cut.
- Everybody knows the Elf Queen’s mysterious Opalescent school of dark elf clerics are unparalleled healers and unbreakably loyal.
- The Lich King’s followers will bring back anyone...for a price.
